Linear Position Sensors
Elegance in Sensor Design
LRT Sensors offers two styles of sensors
- Housed sensors – (DIST A) that are interchangeable with magnetostrictive and LVDT applications either for new installations or replacement of existing sensors
- Un-housed sensors – (DIST B) that are integrated into OEM applications such as
- Mounted internally into pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders for a variety of uses such as farm equipment, automotive applications, medical instruments, robotics, etc.
- Designed into OEM equipment to monitor position independent of the actuating device, i.e. a hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder, such as position feedback for a linkage in an industrial application.
- The full range of outputs is offered in both product configurations
Housed Sensors (DIST A)
Housed sensors are offered with a variety of mounting options including
- Rod-eye ends (shown above)
- Foot mounting
- Custom designs
The housings are made from a lightweight aluminum alloy with a wear resistant hard coating, have no wear parts and are impervious to dust and other external contaminants. They can be mounted in any orientation and can be optionally configured to withstand high shock and vibration, high temperatures (225°C), and high radiation environments. In addition to being economical, the design has a “low overhead” ratio of overall length to stroke length. This feature allows easy integration and replacement of sensors in existing magnetostrictive or LVDT applications. The design is modular and custom lengths can be delivered quickly, often in 2 weeks or less.
Un-Housed Sensors (DIST B)
The un-housed sensors are offered in two basic configurations based on the desired output, the frequency output being a more compact package and configurable to harsh environments. Standard designs for each are available but custom configurations are also offered based on the application, for example, internal mounting into pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders. Both designs can be mounted in any orientation.
